Being born poor isn't a disadvantage
This will upset some people
I just went on a podcast with a good friend of mine
He’s called Don Senti, and he’s a video game developer
He started when he was 16 years old making games as a hobby
Now he makes $100,000 every single month and released a dozen games every year
Whilst on this podcast we came to the idea of where we started in life and where we are now
Don though, has noticed a very interesting trend amongst those born rich
They have a complete lack of ambition
They’re born with a silver spoon in their mouths, and so they have no reason to work hard
Sure they have an easy life
But the pride that comes from building your own business? That’s something all his rich friends will never be able to achieve
And Don on the other hand, is driven day and night to work hard at his business
Because he knows what its like to have nothing
After hearing this, I started looking back at some of the most privileged people I know
People who went to Eton, the most expensive school in the UK
And I considered what they actually do with their time
Not a single one of them has done anything worthy of admiration
They sit around all day in their villas in Italy, or their private members clubs in Mayfair, and they talk…
Many of them have tried to start businesses, to make something of themselves
But none of them have managed to push through the first stages and make it actually work
But those I know who grew up poor?
They’re working 10x harder, and seeing 10x as much success as well
It’s easy to get stuck with the idea that someone else out there had it better than you
But coveting a past which never existed will never help you
We are all dealt a hand at birth
And all we can do is play that hand to the best of our ability
If you’re watching people online building successful businesses and feeling jealous?
Stop.
Take action now and become one of those people for yourself.
Stay stoic,
Max
